Boundaries is an evening of timbral and textural exploration presented by Trio 91, featuring an eclectic mix of music for solo instruments, duos, and woodwind trio. The program includes works by composers from America, France, and Japan and the premiere of "Cynomys: on Distraction" for saxophone and percussion by Atlanta composer Michael Standard, who will join us as guest artist to premiere the piece.

Trio 91 is a chamber group from the Atlanta area made up of graduate and postgraduate students from Georgia State University. Run entirely by the members with guidance from applied faculty, the group was formed in 2015 to discover chamber music in a new setting and has dedicated itself to the performance and commissioning of contemporary and new music.

Reese Burgan is a saxophonist and educator in the Atlanta area who has just completed a Master of Music degree at Georgia State University where he studied with Dr. Jan Berry Baker. Reese has performed both as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States. This year he has performed in two international saxophone conferences along with fellow Trio 91 member Courtney White, and has performed in 7 total conferences and symposia in the last two years. In the summer of 2015, he studied with renowned saxophonist Frederick L. Hemke and the Masato Kumoi Saxophone Quartet at the Frederick L. Hemke Saxophone Institute in Sydney, Maine. As a member of the Tenth Floor Project Saxophone Quartet, he recorded Tommy Joe Anderson’s Quartet for Saxophones, Op. 37, which will be released on an upcoming disc of the composer’s works. Reese is an active promoter of new music and has performed frequently at Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery, the Downtown Players Club, Beep Beep Gallery and the Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta. 

Courtney White has completed an Artist Certificate at Georgia State University as a student of Dr. Kenneth Long after receiving her Master of Music degree from GSU in Spring of 2015. She graduated from Auburn University in 2009 as a student of Dr. David Odom. Prior to studying at Georgia State, Ms. White worked as a freelance musician and studio teacher in the Charleston, SC area. Ms. White was recently appointed to the clarinet faculty at the University of North Georgia – Gainesville. She has a keen interest in contemporary music and has performed works by Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, Joseph Eidson and Katherine Saxon at regional and national conferences and symposia. Her performance with the Atlanta Chamber Winds of Mozart’s Gran Partita received airplay on WABE Atlanta. Upon graduation, Ms. White plans to continue teaching and freelancing in the Atlanta area.

Aleksandra Tevdoska is a recent graduate of Georgia State University, where she earned a Master of Music in Flute Performance at Georgia State University in the studio of Sarah Kruser Ambrose. Originally from Macedonia, she received the Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the Cyril and Methodius State University of Skopje, Macedonia, in 2012 under the tutelage of Straso Temkov. Ms. Tevdoska has won international competitions for solo flute and chamber music in Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria and Macedonia. In Spring 2015, she was selected as the Graduate instrumental division winner of the Atlanta Music Club’s Competition. Aleksandra works as a flute instructor at Community Music Centers of Atlanta and has taught privately for many years and is currently a performing member of the Drijada Trio and the Aulos Flute Quartet.
